The Muko City Cultural Museum was opened in 1984 ） to commemorate the 1200th anniversary of the transfer of the capital from Heijo-kyo to Otokuni-kyo in 1984 （ in a corner of the Nagaoka-kyo palace area, where the capital was located for 10 years before it was transferred to Heian-kyo. The permanent exhibition, "History and Culture of Nagaokakyo," displays a restored model of the Nagaokakyu Daigoku-den ・ Chaodoin and artifacts excavated from the ruins, and introduces the lives of people in those days.
